Westport Festival Italiano, Inc. is a group of dedicated, hard working volunteers who give unselfishly of their time and energy every year to create a successful Festival. The volunteers come from a variety of trades and professions including: mortgage bankers, electricians, builders, firefighters, engineers, barbers, account executives, publishers, real estate agents, construction workers and small business owners, to name a few. This diversity has helped the Festival to become a success by drawing on each person's expertise and talents.
At the center of every successful event there must be one person who takes the reins to make sure it all happens. For Festival Italiano that person is Roberta Delladonna Troy, Festival Director. Festival Italiano was originally a function of the Westport Sons of Italy and still relies heavily on the Sons for it's volunteers. Roberta has been involved with the Sons of Italy for over 10 years and currently holds the position of President of Westport's Loggia Francesca Lodge, Order of Sons of Italy.
For the last 7 years Roberta has served as director or co-director of Westport Festival Italiano. Her ability to direct and organize will assure an exciting and successful festival.
In addition to these volunteers, the Festival receives tremendous support from many Town officials and residents. The permit process has become a matter of routine at Town Hall, and hundreds of commuters gladly walk a little farther to catch their train while the commuter parking lot is transformed into the Festival grounds. Westport Festival Italiano has become a cherished annual summer event for tens of thousands of families in Westport and throughout southern New England, Westchester and Long Island.
